This site was created to fulfill an overwhelming need for information in French in the field of Dance Movement Therapy in Quebec and meet the increasing demand and interest.
For more than a decade, people from all over Quebec have been writing directly to the author to find out more about Dance Movement Therapy. Since no information was available in French, she took the initiative to answer all possible question through this website. Plenty of information is already available in English; definition, professional practice, training programs, research and so forth, from various websites, namely the American Dance Therapy Association (adta.org).

In sum, in Quebec, we hope to develop the field of Dance Movement Therapy in French so that anyone interested in joining, training or having access to competent and eligible Dance Therapists can do so in their own language. As of now, all training in North America remains available solely in English. Hopefully, a French or bilingual training program will emerge in Montreal (Quebec), offering an opportunity to all desiring French speaking Quebecers, and others around the world, to join the movement of Dance Therapy, spread its practice, as well as assuring its high standards and quality.

Note that the author is against the overall americanization of Dance Movement Therapy training and practice occurring in Quebec right now - and unfortunately around the world -, brought here by the Grands Ballets canadiens de Montréal, as firmly expressed in Les gros sabots des Grands Ballets and Sur quel pied danserez-vous (in French), and hopes that people and public institutions involved in this american hegemony will finally come to their senses and ground themselves in reality.
No profession should have to ask permission to a foreign association to practice within their own country, and pay the american rate for their studies in Quebec - remember student protest in 2012 ? Professional orders and associations are an internal national legal matter for all professions (artists, doctors, engineers, journalists, nurses, name it) and must organize within their own laws and regulations without any foreign intervention or regulations.
Why should it be different for Dance Movement Therapy? Do Art or Music Therapists pay an american association to practice their profession? No. They organized, set their own professional regulations and code of ethics.
Dance Movement Therapy does not belong to an american association, or anybody else for that matter... get over it. We must stop this non-sense and very costly monopoly, affecting women economically here and all over the world.
